I'm a single female in my mid-30's, considering a job transfer to The Woodlands. What's life like there for singles?

You should post in Houston's forum.

Honestly, it would suck. If you can tolerate a 30-40 minute commute, look into some of the central/north Houston neighborhoods that are within Loop 610 and live there. That's where you will find many other singles your age, as well as the shops/ restaurants/ nightlife/ activities you are probably looking for.

Thanks for the tip! Any other advice on specific neighborhoods?

I'm sorry.

The Woodlands is your typical family oriented suburb. However, there is a newly built town square with a river walk & many midrange restaurants to choose from & shopping at the nearby Woodlands Mall.

New urban style condo developments line the river walk.

I live in Dallas.....but The Heights & Montrose are two neighborhoods that are fun & filled with young professionals. The Heights is in the loop, but further north- it would be easy to hop on I-45N to head to the Woodlands....mostly reverse commute. Probably 40-45 minutes each way. Not a fun drive, but better than living in soccer mom suburbia.

Thanks for the input! I've heard a lot of good things about the Heights. Not crazy about the idea of a commute, though.
