I just hope our new mayor follows his/her main ideas and don't let the BAss family tell them what to build. Eventually, we'll see the Eastside get something (I recall your article on some development with Walmart), but it's gonna take a while. Right now, the main focus neighborhoods are West 7th, Near Southside, and the Northside. Six Points is suposed to be the first with the (eventual) light rail line and first Urban Village on the Eastside, but time and politics slow everything down.
Most do not know but the second biggest growth spot in Fort Worth outside of North Fort Worth is at 820 and I 30. The area has exploded with housing development and deserves some attention. That area is one of the most affluent parts of the city. The Fort Worth way is West of I 35 granted you are on the Southwest side of town in the thick of things but I am on the far Eastside of town. The new Wal-mart contributes to the Morningside, East Wood, Rolling Hills, and Stop 6 area. We already have a Wal-mart in the Eastchase area and I am tired of the city ignoring our part of town as if we don't matter. Just had to get that off my chest.

I find it hard to believe that East Fort Worth has the second most growth in the city. I would say that belongs to the SW side around Bryan Irving and the Benbrook area. In fact, that may be the highest growth side.

Not much growth there according to the first link. 76109 has a lot more growth, in less land area.

You should take a drive down John T. White Road. There are tons and tons of new homes. Those numbers are off but City-data is the only stats I could find. So I guess your right. Although City-data demographics for 76109 zip code has the area heavily white. I see some of everything thing in the 76109 area code. Most of that growth came from Apartment development. That area is pretty much built out.

Have you taken a trip down Bryant Irving near I-20 and the Benbrook area? East Fort Worth is no where near the growth out there, IMO. North Fort Worth would come second. I know there are a ton of new homes in that area, but there simply isn't as much as the SW side. Fort Worth's SW side is comparable to the North Dallas suburbs. Good growth all around.

Take a look at the nearby zip codes: http://www.cccarto.com/tx/tarrant_zipcodes/

Well I can't dispute that granted I was refering to the city of Fort Worth and not the city of Benbrook. Yea most of that growth is surrounding Bryant Irving Rd. Crowley, Benbrook, etc. The only thing I have seen in that 76109 zip code the last time I was in the Hulen area was luxury apartments being built. The area around Harris Hospital southwest was already pretty much developed in the early 2000's. I may be wrong granted I been stuck here in College Station for the last 4 years. So I am sure things have changed in the area. I was looking at it from a different angle but regardless even if the 76120 area code had a substantial growth its a small compared to the overall region.

So if all the development is taking place in West Fort Worth as usual why do we even have District 8 Kathleen Hicks and District 5 Frank Moss on the city council. Granted I am happy about the urban village off 287 but damn it that is the only thing at this point taking place on the East Side.

I wanted them to use it as some sort of signage (at least) for development.
