Capt, I think, in general, posters have been very good about giving a more complete expanation (where one would be compelling) once the one-word answer has been given. Or else another poster will do so in the discussion. I recognize that much of the value here is for all of us to learn a lot of interesting tidbits about Texas history, but incorporating all those tidbits into the minimum acceptable answer doesn't seem to be the streamlined way to go about it. It begs people who think they might know the answer or want to make a guess, to have to go and research it before posting.

In the future , more and more participants will be joining in, few taking the trouble to go back and read the OP, so the best course of action would be to set the best possible precedent and let newbies learn by following along. The discussion about who got the soft drink companies right is not setting a good precedent.

A Texas forum without football would be like a Colorado forum without mountains.

Actually she was born Lucille Wood Smith, which was later changed to Frances Octavia Smith. Don't ask me why. Then she had at least two marriages before marrying Roy Evans. Not sure if she changed her name for both weddings.

Feel free to let your questions sit for a day or so, then post a hint if no one responds originally.

Ok back to the question at hand.

Where was Willie Nelson's 1st 4th of July Picnic held?

Thank you.

Before the Cowboys moved into their new stadium in 2009 only one professional football team had ever played a game in Tarrant County. Name them.

I am going to take a gamble that this might be a bit of a "trick question." IS the answer perhaps actually the Dallas Cowboys back in the very early days...?
