As a Texan I want to express my approval of this change in the Army Standard Headgear. Changing it from a beret (which seems too French to me), to a dark blue stetson calvary hat. I think it is a far more American and functional headgear. This is a change that Texans can really get behind.

I know, but I still support the idea. I still think it is more practical and useful then a beret. At the bottom of that press release it says:

The Army's official adoption date of the Stetson will be April Fool's Day, 2012.

Stetson is ugly. Beret is ugly. Bring back the garrison cap and call it a day.

Chef's hats for all.

But yeah berets suck. If you're going to have a functionless hat why not a fez or something.

Why is the top hat out of style? Surely you could fit some extra ammo under there. And you're ready for monopoly!

They should change to raspberry berets. The kind you find in a second hand store.

That is a little too gay for the military. We want our military to strike the fear of god into our enemies, not make them want to blow kisses.

The Special Forces (Army Rangers) wear the Beret, and have for a long time. I doubt that you'd tell one of them that it's ugly. That is, if you want to live.
