No wonder all the students from Baylor, MCC, and TSTC LEAVE as much as possible and/or when they graduate, its utter insanity!!!!!!!

On the above quote from you in blue, what does that mean?

There are parts of Waco where you will find the people of which you describe, but I can find them anywhere in big cities, podunk towns, and those in between. Waco is not bad for a medium-sized city. Actually though, I prefer small towns, so I wouldn't choose to live there nor would I choose any large Texas city or large city anywhere.

Well if being honest is snobbish then I guess I am.

The students leave for DFW, or Austin EVERY Weekend, and after they graduate because the LACK of activities, job opportunities, etc. Utter Insanity because there isnt anthing to do, no decent jobs (most pay minimum wage, if you can even get one), and what is offered is a Joke at best..........Still not understand or should I spell it out better for you?
Not bad for a medium sized city?? When was the last time you visited here? Or better yet LIVED here? I have LIVED here, (sorry to admit it), so I think I know a little more on a first hand basis then someone who is just "passing through".
Yeah sure there are those types I mentioned in Larger cities but they arent as noticeable. And like I stated in my OP, just because your poor doesn't mean you have to be, for lack of a better word, "trashy".
The next time your in Waco, just check out the clientele at the WalMart on Franklin Ave or in Bellmead, The Richland Mall, any restaurant on Valley Mills or Waco Drives, any high school football game, any civic "function", parks, and you'll see what I mean.
I also stated that 75% of the population should be replaced, and the remaining 25% probably would agree with me. I like Waco as a city, the layout, historical things, Lake Waco, and many other things......Its the people that give Waco a bad name. Its not called Wacko Waco for nothing!!!

I have to agree with JVTX72. I was excited to move Waco because it's a very pretty town and we had great job opportunities. Like JVTX72 we've lived in a lot of cities/towns but have never experienced anything like Waco.

I think living here for several years and also living in other cities for several years for comparison give a real good prospective on Waco.

I know there is good and bad in all cities but the bad outweighs the good in Waco.

Yes we are leaving.

You know, I use to try and defend the city of Waco, but I just can't anymore. The city isn't really even trying to improve the city besides doing some rennovations and new development around downtown. That still isn't going to fix the fact that crime is on the rise and the population is beginning to decline. Many people have wrote letters to the city about all the problems, but nothing is being done.

When it comes to people, I think overall everyone is cool and normal. I don't understand what you mean by people are rude and trashy. Not sure where you hang out,but I see plenty of decent dressed looking people.

No, I didn't peg you as snobbish; I was referring to your grammar, hence highlighting the word HIM. Most snobs attempt writing properly so not to "lower" themselves out of the snob category. Of course, this isn't always the case.

No, spelling it out for me is not necessary. I live near Waco and have for 30 years. My daughter attended Baylor, so I freqent the area often. I'm not one who "passes through" as you say. I also know many lovely people who live there. Yes, it's very typical of which you write in many places. You know, any Wal-Mart I've been in anywhere has shoppers of which you describe. Bellmead may even attract the passer-bys from I-35 and they could be from anywhere.

Again, I would not live in Waco as I don't care for a city of that size. If I did, I may not choose it for my home either because the crime has increased over the years, but where has it not? It's sad for sure, but true.

If I remember correctly, it began being called Whacko after David and his followers made the headlines even though the compound was not in Waco per se. You know.....people try to be cute. Whacko is so close to sounding like Waco. Were Koresh and his bunch Whacko? I believe they were. People can think of derogatory words for just about any cities or towns in this country if they put on their thinking caps.

If you love your hometown, you have a very strange way of expressing it.

I don't hate Waco nor know of anyone who even thinks about the town unless they went to Baylor. I just think it's a sleepy ultra conservative country town.

I was at Baylor during the late seventies - early eighties just before it "boomed" and can verify that statement.

interesting note about Waco...though i have no opinion on it, because i have only been to the airshow at TSTC and that's my extent of my exposure to the town, i was a head nurse of a large male prison in Texas, and we had "chain-in's" (intakes) of inmates bussed in from counties all around the DFW metroplex and beyond to come serve their sentence, and i recall how every time we got the chain in from McLellan County, the inmates from that county were the most throwed off bunch of em all......dont know why, but it was a fact that we could not deny.
