the Davidians were located about 6 miles outside the city limits of Waco....therefore they were NOT IN WACO.......what the media should have said was MCLENNAN COUNTY.

It seems like you dont understand anything about Waco. For one it is very culture oriented. There are plenty of family lines mostly African Americans, and hispanics. You will see family reunions and people in the parks. East Waco, South Waco Cameron Park is the best scenic area in the state for a city including Austin. I have family in Waco and known people at Baylor.
Once new development arises over near the 35-340 overchange you will see more retail, and residental areas.
For all those people who talk bad about Waco must not be from there.

Who were you referring to??
If people would give Waco a chance they probably would be surprised.....I mean it cant be that bad, or else Bush wouldnt have bought his ranch so close to Waco. Now if he'll just put his library there.

Waco bashers just show their ignorance. Waco is a great place. I really enjoyed the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and Buzzard Billys.

Waco is a nice place, you folks who don't like it obviously have not been to a lot other cities in the US. For a small city it is fine, it isn't great, but it isn't terrible.

My wife went to Baylor. I started college in Abilene at Hardin-Simmons and later transferred to the University of North Texas.
Abilene and Waco reminded me a lot of each other back then. Conservative. Conservative Christian colleges. Politically conservative. They both seem to suffer from their reputations in the 50's and 60's. Both have grown up and become more tolerant. I could live either place now. Mostly, towns are what the people make of them, and once a town reaches the size of Waco, people can find other people like them. Waco has become quite diverse and grown quite a bit. I am impressed with what it is now. Give it a chance. Get out and meet people. You can learn to like it.

Waco is a timewarp...it feels like you stepped back to the fifties. Waco is also very conservative and religious feeling. It also seems to be a place where businesses go to die. There are so many shuttered businesses. During the weeknights, nothing seems to be open past 8 pm.
Best thing about Waco, no traffic.

When was the last time you were there? Yeah its a conservative and religious town, whats wrong with that? Shuttered businesses? Have you been around Dallas? And as far as nothing being open past 8pm is nothing but BS. Stores are open til 9, restaurants til 10 or 11, bars til 2am, yes Conservative and Religious Waco has bars. Isnt McKinney dry?
