Arrow keep hating

All you people that don't like Waco, don't move here. We welcome you to drive through and spend money, but don't stay. The population is growing too fast.

You people sure are opinionated!!! Take a look at yourself, I bet your world isn't perfect. Your trailer trash house would fit fine on the north east side of waco though.

I associate the place with Southern Baptists, religious fundamentalists, and George Bush supporters, who cheered on the Iraq War. Everyone of these groups, along with the Iraq war has fallen out of favor with Americans nationwide. Hence, the 30% approval ratings for Bush, 70% of Americans wanting us out of Iraq, and Mike Huckabee's dismal showing in match ups against more moderate candidates. Can you really argue that Waco's culture isnt influenced by these groups?

I drove through Waco once on US 84. I didn't look like a very appeasing place, even as I was driving past Baylor's campus (I think it was the Baylor Law School I saw backing up to a lake) because the surrounding neighborhoods looked kind of etchy. Plus, when I stopped at a gas station, the attendant was less than friendly. I know this is only one time and one experience with Waco and my small perception doesn't really define the town, but it is what it is.

Truthfully, though, I don't why Waco is "hated." I didn't think it would be since Baylor, a world-class university (with a great law school,) is there.

I don't know about "World class"? US News ranks Baylor at #75 in the USA. Just below Stevens Institute of Technology? and just above Colorado School of Mines?

These Waco defenders would have you believe that Miami isn't influenced by Cuban culture, New Orleans isn't influenced by Creole and black culture, Houston culture isn't influenced by old oil money, and yes, Waco isn't influenced by white Southern evangelicals. Who just happen to run the largest Baptist University in the World from this small town, (and finalist for the George Bush Library) and is the economic engine of Waco.

Their proof? Everbody in Miami isn't Cuban, everybody in New Orleans isn't in a Jazz or Zydeco band, and Waco has some liberals...

The reason Baylor tried for the library was because they trying to become a more known school with world renowed facilities. The upcoming plans is to try for a Obama Presidental Library if he is elected.
