HookEm' is on a distinguished road
Default Waco

My Dad and and a few other family memebers live in Waco. My Dad is from the area and movd back about 10 years ago. My brother went to Baylor so I have seen the city a "few times" over the years. The city, I do not like at all, sorry! There are a couple of subs that are nice, Woodway, the hills ove at the lake, but the city itself is just not my taste. What is it... not really sure.

As for the media calling in "Waco" and not "MCLENNAN COUNTY"...Waco is a lager City in Texas people would come closer to knowing where Waco was/is than a county in Texas. They have to give a focal point.

So if you like the city great enjoy it, for those of us who don't... I will just keep visiting and coming back home!

Who just happen to run the largest Baptist University in the World from this small town, (and finalist for the George Bush Library) and is the economic engine of Waco.

Their proof? Everbody in Miami isn't Cuban, everybody in New Orleans isn't in a Jazz or Zydeco band, and Waco has some liberals...
The Bush library is going to SMU, in Dallas...this has been officially announced. I guess that makes big D the shill of some secret group of conspirators.

For the record, Baylor is not a "Southern Baptist" school. I'd explain, but that would take about 10 pages and would be utterly confusing to the 90% of Americans who were not involved in the Baptist wrangling of the past decades (you didn't miss anything, either).

Since Notre Dame is in South Bend, does that mean South Bend is run by the Pope?

Dallas has a 1.2 Million population base (not even counting the surounding urban areas), Waco 113,000. There are many institutions in Dallas that effect the culture here. Primarily, the numerous corporations that are based here, so it's has a big business feel to it. SMU is conservative just like Baylor, but it's a small fish in a big pond.

On the other hand, Baylor is about the only thing going on in Waco. So your analogy is absurd.

No your analogy is absurd. Waco is not a College town and if you ever took the time out to actually visit the city, than you would know it's more than just Baylor here!

-The Convention Center in Downtown Waco brings in more than 200,000 visitors.
-Cameron Park Zoo is probably one of Texas's top 5 Zoos.
-Cameron Park is one of Texas's best kept secrets and holds alot of history and has one of the best bike trails in Texas!
-and soooo much more!!!

1-35 is pretty much a line that divides Waco From Baylor. Many people who live in Waco could care less about it and the youth pretty much despise it. To the people who've never actually visited Waco seem to think Baylor is all we got,but once you get around the city and see all it has to offer, You'd be amazed!

Got it. Waco is not a college town because it has a convention center, bike trails, and a zoo. The University just happens to be the biggest employer in the small city.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Just to give you an idea of how right wing Waco is, here is the Waco Tribune's sole featured columnist. Yes they print other opinion articles, but this guy has his own special section online. (I love it! Click on Opinion and you get three tabs...Letters to the Editor,.Editorials., and ""Ted Nugent""...LOL)

Rolling Stone : Ted Nugent Threatens to Kill Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton During Vicious Onstage Rant

The video has every right wing touchstone in the book...... guns, hate speech, and militancy passed off as "patriotism".

Maybe that's why some dislike Waco? Because the town has ulta-conservatives like this guy writing for the local paper.

Wow, ultra-conservatives. What a terrible thing to have in a city.

By the way, Ted Nugent is pathetic and obviously insane. He shames America.

Ted Nugent lives in Crawford TX, same town as GWB's ranch. Ted Nugent is a CONSTABLE for McClennan County (Waco)
did yall see his interview on Texas Monthly Talks on TV? it was really good. I agreed with most everything he said. I only knew him from his "Spirit of the Wild" hunting shows, and would have never thought he was as conservative as he is, considering he's a rocker dude type. I really liked him, at least based on what he said during the interview
