What TX lake you would wish to have a house at and why?

None of them. Sorry. If I had to pick one, it would be Lake Travis but it certainly is not cheap. I just don't think any lakes in TX are worth having a vacation home on.

If I was going to buy or build a lake home I would pick Possum Kingdom Lake. I've been there many times over the years and it's absolutely beautiful. That lake has some of the clearest water I've ever seen in Texas. With it's large limestone cliffs and scenic hills that surround the lake, Possum Kingdom Lake looks like a lake you would only find down in the scenic Texas Hill Country, but it's only about 70 miles from here. It's expensive to buy or build there but it would be worth it for me, if I had the money of course...lol.

Some of Lake Travis is a bit hectic, mostly from May through August. Weekdays are completely different.
The lake is 65 miles long, and a retirement home above Briarcliff might be very very nice. Build/buy on the north shore instead of south shore and the costs are much less. The water quality is oustanding, the scenery is terrific, and the fishing is good.

Maybe you could buy a homesite even more cheaply there now, since so many homes around the lake are now gone.

At one time, I thought that Lake Athens was the place to build. WRONG. The crooks that run the water authority will simply make you tear down your boat house that you just built with their permission, if one of their buddies wants the land to develop and make money on.
