I prefer 62/82/114. Very peaceful drive, especially when you get past Seymour (where I would highly advise you to fill up; the next gas station is in Dickens, over 70 miles away). King and Dickens Counties are still largely untouched; driving out here is a glimpse of what the Texas High Plains were like before man got ahold of them.

380 is much more lonely and desolate (especially when you get past Albany), but if you're interested in ghost towns, one of the best ones in the state (Clairemont) is on 380 between Jayton and Post.

Whichever route you decide to take, be safe.

If one can't buy gas for over 70 miles, that sounds lonely and desolate to me. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
