What does "the beard town" mean?

you'll love Denton no matter your political leanings.

"BEARDTOWN" means ... denton is known throughout the indie circuit in the nation as a town with people.... young adults... who have beards. A large population of the area has beards ... larger then most for a town its size.

You can have a beard in this town and have a job. People dont discriminate ... mostly... because you dont shave. They welcome it in fact.

Beards are a sign of independence. Everything has a positive and a negative. So we all know the stereotypical negatives of beards. But the world is catching onto the positives and shattering the negatives. Denton is at the forefront in America. hah

Some young men in the 60's and 70's wore beards. I like them when they're short and neat but that's just my preference.

A year or two ago, can't remember when now, ***** Eye for the Straight Guy came to Denton to make over a fraternity house. First thing they got rid of was the confederate flag laying on the floor. They did a great job. The college guys loved it and more importantly, so did the girls!

Trish, Denton County on the whole is a great place to live. I live and teach in Lewisville and we have an excellent school district. Lake Dallas is also well known for its small town atmosphere with excellent schools. I have friends that live and teach and Denton and they love it. :-)

LOL....

Started as a kid that didn't want to get carded, now my wife won't let me shave it, even if I wanted to.

Besides, I figured that guys that don't grow them are just hiding a bald spot!

I live in Southern California. I was looking at a job out there in Lewisville and a home east of Denton off of 288 loop? about 4 miles.

Job didn't pan out so I am still in Cali., but still looking in the Dallas/FW area. I have six kids and am looking for a slower pace, but still want to make the same money. Going to Denton would have cut my house payment in half and landed me a 6 acre 6 bedroom 4500 sqft house with a pool and 8 horse stable.

Default About Denton

You will love living in Denton. It is a college town and the living expenses are far less than what you are experiencing. The rental rates are very affordable and utilites and groceries are very reasonable. When I lived in Denton the population was 35,000. I am not sure what it is now. People in Denton are very friendly. Good luck to you.
