Hey everyone. So my co worker and myself are going to Odessa next month and we are both in our early 20's We are looking for a good bar to go and meet some girls around our age? Also what all is there to do to sight see? We are going to Odessa to see the whole Friday Night Lights football stuff since we have always been big fans of the book and movie. Any help would great thanks guys!

Man, I wish I could help you. I lived in Midland for a year, but didn't venture into Odessa too often other than for work. The one place I did visit was Graham Central Station. It's one of those places where they have multiple themed bars in one building. They had a ******-tonk area with a stage, a hip hop room, karaoke, and others. Somewhat cheesy, but packed full of people and decent looking girls. Drinks were dirt cheap, too. I believe I paid something like a dollar a drink.

If you're into Friday Night Lights though, why are you going in July? Why not wait until September and check out a football game? Nothing is going on at Permian in the middle of the summer.

I wanted to say something like that but wasn't going to bump the thread just to say it.

Like.. wait til a fall Friday nite, that's when they turn the lights on.

I know they don't play until the fall but with work and such we wont be able to make a fall game unfortunately. Are people mostly friendly in Odessa to people that arn't from there or are they rude? Clarence thanks for the tip about Graham Central!

People in Odessa are nice enough, I think. Odessa seems a little edgier than Midland, a little rougher around the edges. People in the area overall were pretty nice.

Sounds like it should be a good time. Any Mojo themed bars in the area or are they all dedicated to the football in the area?

That much I couldn't tell you. Hopefully a native can chime in, and if not, let Google be your friend.

No you won't find any Mojo themed places here. The Mojo thing isn't as big as it was back then. Belive it or not there is another high school here (OHS) and have actually been the better team the past few years. The good news is if your a fan of the book and movie the high school and stadium are not hard to find at all. Yeah as far as meeting girls Graham Central Station is the place your going to find the most. You should also check out Dos Amigos. They usually put on the best concerts in the area. Its also one of those bars with bull riding.

Odessa nightlife? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Basically the bars and clubs closest to the university (UTPB) are the best IMO. Oasis, black gold, zucchi's, bar 10, fast eddies, grahams central station. Grahams is the only one with a cover I think like 10 bucks and it's best on saturday and wednesday nights. Other nights you may have to bar hop to find the hot spot. Also you will find most of the best restaurants in town in that area. Unless you want Mexican food you can find that anywhere in town and they are all good!
As for odessans being friendly toward outsiders I would say we are very friendly. Odessa is very diverse and prob 1/3 of the population are outsiders themselves
