Oh OK. I'm not too familiar with Abilene even though I've been there. Thanks and appreciate adding to the thread!

Usually these type of threads don't get much action.

Yeah, Lubbock has the largest medical center between D/FW, Denver, and Phoenix. Only the most serious cases are transferred there, though, from places like El Paso, Albuquerque, Midland, Amarillo, etc.

Speaking of, here are a few projects in Lubbock:

National College Baseball Hall of Fame
Will be downtown. It is part of a transformation of the Central Business District which should place over the next ten years.

Texas Tech Rawls College of Business Administration Building
This $70 million LEED building will be the new home of the Jerry Rawls CoBA, named after a successful alumnus/entrepreneur. It is set to open in January.

New Residence Hall at Texas Tech
At $45 million, this complex will house roughly 500 students.

Raider Park
An 11-story parking garage with a rooftop bar, luxury apartments, and retail all sit across the Marsha Sharp Freeway from Jones Stadium in this nearly finished development.

By the way...y'all who are 'jealous' of that Waco bridge...don't be. I'm from Waco and let me tell you nothing gets done there. All those things he listed are just pipe dreams, maybe one or two of them might get done. Also, the state has already denied funding for a revamp of I35 in Waco. They said Waco itself does not add enough traffic to the interstate for funding.

I'm from Waco and if I were to raise a family, I'd wanna raise them there. But it's Waco, nothing changes there. That's the way the few people that run that town want it.

I agree 150%. Instead of building a fancy new bridge and a bunch of over priced "mixed use" developments downtown, the city needs to focus on bringing HIGH PAYING jobs to town and working on that sorry excuse for a school system, Waco ISD. But as always the City Of Waco is so far up Baylors a$$ to give a sh*t about doing ANY of that.
