Anyway, I'm curious so I know what to expect. And I do trust you but not necessarily because you're a cop !

OTOH in Delaware I just traded my old TX DL for a DE one -- no test at all, except vision. The minimal level of government in DE makes both TX and PA look like the Soviet Union (or maybe just the UK, exaggerating less).

We live in Cal right now, but have purchased a home in Texas and plan on going back and forth. We would like to register our truck in Texas and leave it there. We have 2 other cars registered in Cal and a home. Am understanding that we cannot register the truck in Texas without getting a DL. What if we buy a new truck in Texas. We are still Ca. residents and need to maintain our licenses here.

OK so here is my situation. My boyfriend and I currently live with his dad, rent free. Our names aren't on any rental agreements, utilities etc. He has a state issued drivers license and I have a state issued ID card both with oklahoma addresses. We are going to move to TX to be closer to my grandparents. We will be staying with them, again without a rental agreement, utilities etc. We are both planning on getting bank accounts down there and I am planning on getting my driver's license in TX (for clarification we are both over 18). He wants to establish residency there before he joins the Navy which is in a few months. How do we go about doing that or can we do that?

Nanny2008 is on a distinguished road
Default Residency Questions and HELP needed!

Okay, so I've been living in Austin since December of 2008 and wasn't intending to stay for any longer than a year. (I also am new to the whole changing your driver's license over thing...which I am in the process of taking care of...but I digress...) I'm considering a few education options here in Texas and I don't know where to begin. Since I've been here for about 9 months and haven't done anything to really claim residency beyond my address change, I'm honestly scared that I won't meet the requirements for residecny in Texas for school.

I'm a live-in nanny so I don't own or rent the house I live in. I changed my address to my Texas address back in December but not my license. My boss provides the car for me, so I can't get that changed into my name. What do I do?! Where do I begin with all of this so I can possibly start taking classes in the Spring?

I got my Texas state ID with a passport and a postally-delivered envelope mailed to me at a Texas address. Now I am a Texas resident.

From the links...

New residents moving into Texas, who have a valid driver license from their home state, have 90 days after entry into the state to secure a Texas driver license.

New residents are required to do the following within 30 days of moving to Texas:

Get a vehicle inspection
Register and title their vehicle

Having just relocated here, I find it odd that the vehicle registration and driver licensing are done at 2 different offices..not necessarily bad..just confusing when you are new and used to 'one stop shopping'. And the new resident tax on vehicles!! What a surprise..
