"look at those savages, FIVE THOUSAND OF THEM...........the vast majority are morbidly obese, I see ZERO people that are starving.......you will notice where the VAST MAJORITY of them DROVE THERE IN A CAR........you will notice that they had all the time in the world at TWO AM IN THE MORNING to be doing nothing buy laying about waiting for another free government handout......oh yea and of course their fat, entitled, ignorant, savage, asses are complaining because they could not PARK CLOSER, or no one was there to control their violence to get something FREE

most if not all of them look like they have new or relatively new clothing, huge numbers of them were plenty capable to bolt from their CAR at 5am and RUN as FAST AS THEY CAN for something FREE from the government.......try getting ANY of them to run for a job application, for a job, to pick up the trash their kids just tossed on the ground, or to do ANYTHING that is beneficial to society......much less try and get them off the couch, sober, and willing to actually do any of that at 2AM in the morning

these are they types of wild, out of control, TRASH that RUINS neighborhoods with section 8, because when they are not lining up, getting violent for "free" from the government, and abusing anyone and everyone around them because of the inconvenience of having to actually "put out effort" for something they are "entitled" to......they are laying about, running wild in, stealing from, and generally trashing nice neighborhoods all around the city

please don't come in here and try to tell me that people that get violent and out of control for a free handout (much less complain about the set up) are going to control themselves, their kids, and their animal friends when they are living in "their house" paid for by EVERYONE ELSE....when there is no security around anywhere in sight

clearly the vast majority of them are not able to control their eating habits, their diet, the eating habits and diets of their kids, their sense of entitlement, their willingness to use violence against others to get something handed to them, their consumer goods and clothing purchases, their overall finances, or really anything other than get down there and get violent to get it for free....then ***** because it took too much effort.....or all the savages were acting like savages....I would imagine if you look at their education levels, the education levels of their dependents (you really don't have dependents when you yourself are dependent on the government), and the educational performance of their dependents you would see the same underwhelming results, the same bad choices, and the same sense of entitlement and willingness to get violent to get something or tear something apart

again the person in the hypothetical scenario above should be the FIRST person that is GLAD for government control of the housing she is living in......because it means she will not be subjected to putting up with the people in that above link while she works hard to get off of the government dole.......and she should realize that without government control and strict limits she will be living in this"

I also noticed one other similarity when I saw the video........

* Also, I feel that people who adopt the attitude that Sec 8 is a permanent lifestyle of leisure ... free or nearly free rent for life... that they can suppliment with little or no legitimate work, just hustling and slanging drugs.... should be thrown out on their ears if not put in jail and their kids given to responsible relatives. It's a "jumpstart", not a permanent entitlement!

We need in this country desparately a BALANCE between knee-jerk classist/racist conservatism (PS Not all conservatives are racist/classist, and not all liberals AREN'T!) and knee-jerk bleeding-heart liberals. These social issues can't be solved by either, but by a mixture of compassion for the children but raised expectations for the adults to improve their performance in life and as parents.

Excellent post. One group wants to punish the children, while the other group wants to permanently enable the irresponsible parents - thus enraging both sides while the problem just continues on and on and on.

What is happening is that the shiftless takers are hardening the hearts of the taxpayers, eventually most likely resulting in a complete stop for programs for those that really need the temporary help.

I agree with you TexasVines. I read a post in the Dallas section of City data that talks about section 8 housing wanting to give people more money to live in "rich neighborhoods," i.e. Plano was said. One lady gets $1500 in housing voucher which pays for a part of the rent and utilities also. I didn't know utilities were covered under housing vouchers, but they are. The housing authority in Dallas told this lady who chose to live in Duncanville for $1500 a month that she could live in a rich northern suburb such as Plano and they would up her housing voucher to $2000 a month. The lady in the article said "I'm moving to Plano."This is way more than what I pay for my mortgage for buying a house. No wonder people are running and hitting each other for housing vouchers, especially when you get $2000 a month and be able to live in a nice area like Plano, a northern Dallas suburb, very beautiful area as well with nice new shopping centers all over the place and outstanding homes. I feel sorry for Plano.

So.......someone working hard and can afford to pay $1500 in mortgage/insurance/taxes - lives in a neighborhood less nice than someone living on the dole? That is just wrong. I don't feel sorry for the residents of Plano - I feel for the middle class person paying his own way and living in a lesser neighborhood.

The only reason I could feel for the residents of the $2000 neighborhood - is that the shiftless people's children (who are being taught to not do your best) are clogging up the schools with low grades and behaviour problems.

I was commenting on the fact that they will give housing vouchers of $2000 a month to the person getting the voucher, so they can live in a better neighborhood than live in one that is not as good.

I live in a neighborhood were my mortgage is below $1000 a month and I'm buying my house.

I feel for the middle class as well, because my husband and I are middle class. We can't afford to live in Plano or the north Dallas suburbs. I moved out of Dallas county and live in Ellis county now, but I did live in southern Dallas county for 12 years and have seen a lot of houses in my old neighborhood go to section 8. There were people moving in and out all the time, loud music, fights, etc. Our property values went in the tank.

The poster simply asked did Texas have subsidized section 8 housing? He/she did not ask for our personal opinion on section 8.

100% correct.

The question in the original post was answered. The question of whether the US government should be in the business of providing subsidized housing is NATIONAL POLITICS, which transcends Texas and would be off topic in ANY state forum at City-Data.

Some posts above which discussed the larger topic and got personal about it were deleted. As you can see from the posts that remain, there isn't anything beyond the original post's yes/no question that is on topic for this forum. That's why the thread is now closed.
