I think by land area DFW is one of the biggest in the world...just because the two cities got smart and decided to share one half between them doesn't mean that Houston is some sort of innovator in airport design.

if you had read carefully you would have seen I said single city airport. DFW is a regional airport and was granted to the area to share instead of building a new one in Dallas and one in FW. If they were granting an airport to Dallas they would have granted one like San Antonio airport because both cities were about the same size at the time. And No one said anything about design, but I hate the design on DFW.

so again, IAH is the biggest single city airport in Texas

There are many Houstonians who would be more than happy to fork over whatever tiny percentage of taxes it would cost to renovate the dome.
I beg to differ.
we're talking $200 million to bring it up to compliance.
its worthless.
its scrap.
tear it down, make a parking garage out of it.
CoH neglected it beacuse its of no value. anything the astrodome can do, Relient center can do better.

I do not watch pro sports, I could care less about any of the big 3 or even HLSR. All four are simple about $$.
Given the option, I wouldnt hand a single buck over to save the astrodome.
I dont want to hear any crap about the HLSR "is for the children" thats also stinky stuff laying in the feedlot.

I wold like to point out to the math challanged that
Quote:
The Galleria is only slightly bigger than NorthPark Center (NorthPark Center 2 million sq ft and the Galleria is 2.4 million sq ft)
the Galleria is 20% bigger
thats not "slightly" bigger

If that's your opinion, fine. You're entitled to it. However there are MANY more who feel exactly the opposite, and it doesn't have anything to do with modern-day professional sports so much as it has to do with history. Some of us actually grew up with the dome, believe it or not, and appreciate it's place in Houston's history. Houston has already torn down enough of it's history, and there's still plenty of land to build your soulless mass-produced suburbs, strip-malls, and overblown and overly expensive new stadiums on. I went to a game once at MinuteMaid and other than the great view of downtown, the experience sucked eggs compared to the Astrodome. Did you cheer when they tore down the Shamrock to build some stupid parking garage?

A parking garage? You clearly have no vision. How bit a nice Super Wal-Mart with an Olive Garden!? Can you say unique?

I did read carefully, and that was exactly my point. WOW BIGGEST SINGLE CITY AIRPORT. Whoopity! You mean biggest because NYC has 3? You mean biggest because Chicago and Dallas and LA all have multiple? And how do you figure in single city, if I want to fly to Galveston I would have to hit Hobby or Bush Intercontinental wouldn't I?

I wish that movie studio idea for the Astrodome happens. Wouldn't like to see it torn down.
