We wouldn't want that.

It's funny how "East Texas" and "Panhandle" slipped under the radar, though.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming...

The poster never mentioned those. I don't know what you are talking about. like I said, no radar thing, was just sharing part of Texas history, dunno why you are making a big deal about a simple comment.

Who cares if they are not cities? Why would you nitpick that? Obviously it doesn't bother you too much because you mention general areas in your first post of this thread.

Just leave it be, this thread is supposed to be fun.

I SAID I DID NOT NITPICK HIS CITIES CAUSE IF I DID I WOULD HAVE MENTIONED THE ONES THAT WERE NOT.

Just for fun, the mid-to-smaller cities:

Fast (paced): Bellaire, Highland Park
Slow (paced): Mentone, Marfa
Rich: Highland Park, Westlake Hills (River Oaks doesn't count as it is part of Houston proper)
Poor: Port Arthur
Beautiful: Leakey, Fort Davis
Ugly: Beaumont, Port Arthur, Fort Stockton, the entire panhandle
Exciting: (neighborhoods) Montrose, North Oak Cliff
Boring: the entire panhandle
Unique: Terlingua
Bland: Amarillo, Abilene
Green: Any town in/near Big Thicket
Barren: Pecos
Smart: Rice University
Dumb: 6th St. (Austin)
Snooty: City-Data
Down to Earth: Fredericksburg
Southern: Tyler, Longview/Marshall, Lufkin
Western: Anthony
Beach: Port Aransas
Mountain: Gotta go with El Paso again
Plains: Amarillo, Lubbock
Shopping: Any town on the Mexican border

Wow, didn't realize my creative twist on this topic would cause such an uproar.
I did drop the ball on the capital thing, although the settlement was the provisional capital until they met the following year, 1836, at W.on the B....so that would make it unique. I would still argue that being a capital of Texas would make you unique...something like 6 out of 1000's seems pretty special to me....no biggie, to each his own.
Every single San/Santa can be found in Texas, and yes some are not "cities", sorry for coloring outside the lines. How many people went and looked up one of my reponses? Did you learn something about Texas? That was the whole point! Heck, I figure my off the wall comment about bullets flying over the border would have caused more of an uproar!
I guess next time I will follow suit and provide the same typical answers as everyone else.

Someone please end this string of comments and get back to filling in the blanks...Hmmm...maybe I'll make one with "fort/port" or "el/la" or "town/burg"......

I didn't look up any but plan on looking up some because a few I am not familiar with, so I will learn then.

Brownsville, Southern? Are you speaking of the town/city being geographically or culturally Southern? Let me hasten to add that this is a fun and congenial thread, so I am defintely not trying to start an argument or anything. Just curious on that one!
