RGV,
You REALLY need to get all of your photos put together and publish a book. REALLY! Put me on the list for the first run right now. I'll take a hardcover for sure. Make that two - one for my dad.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your pictures...they're great!
Schulenburg looks like an architectural gem - amazing buildings for such a small town. It appears to have seen better days, though. Hauntingly beautiful. Reminds me of the town in "The Last Picture Show" (that was Archer City, TX).
I love discovering towns like this as I drive around the country, but this one takes the prize.

Great pics! We have family in Schulenburg, and when the house was full, we actually stayed at the Von Minden Hotel in your photos!! It is somewhere between derelict and charm, with the ancient bathrooms being more on the derelict side!! This hotel is the kind of place where you keep peeking over your shoulder......

RGV, it's true! Very few rooms were "guest ready," and you just had this feeling that you should keep your eyes open! But, we all slept like babies on the sway-back mattresses, under rocking ceiling fans, and took a tub (?) in the morning that didn't quite drain. We had two rooms and just used the best bathroom. All in all, it was what memories are made of! Thanks again for your great pics.

Nice pictures. I should have gone into town when I was there a few weeks back.
My family had a pretty good and reasonably-priced meal at Frank's restaurant, which is at the Schulenberg interchange on I-10 and not pictured. The place was packed with local folks for Sunday lunch, so it must be the premier dining spot in Schulenberg.
