Default State ruled by homebuilders and insurers?

I have also been told the following, please respond. (As far as Odessa, TX is concerned, I would caution you about anywhere in Texas. Texas has become a state ruled by homebuilders and insurers. If you buy or build a home and it falls apart, you have no recourse in Texas. And, never has an insurance company lost in the appeals process -- the TX Supreme Court is bought and paid for by insurers.)

about the first statement--if you buy a home and it falls apart you have no recourse--that is wrong--you do have recourse...it is just that the recourse is not in the best interest of the home buyer but the home builder--unless you are as wealthy and well-known as say Sandra Bullock who sued her contractor for multi-million $$$ judgement in Austin court, you are just SOL...

don't know about insurance company losing on appeal--not a trial lawyer--but our "wonderful" former govenor, now president--did not help out anyone when he encouraged and helped pass law to cap damages claims...

TX is rules by big business--I think the home builders take a back seat to bankers, land developers (not just home builders), energy companies including TXU-like utilities, insurance companies, and any company that makes a product that pollutes...

You bet, big business rules! Insurance, oil and gas companies, in other words, the big guys, have (in my opinion) bought Texas pretty much. Most of your county officials, a lot of your law enforcement, especially the legal spector, DA's, judges, have been bought. What a shame, I try not to think about it or get in situations where one might have to get involved. I dearly love Texas, this is the one thing I would change about it, if I had a magic wand.
