The abilities to be successful at education and those required to be successful at leadership are not always found in the same person. Moderator cut: off topic for the forum

I wasn't bothered by his grades. You never know what was going on in someone's life and maybe he had things which kept him from getting better grades.

I did find it strange the majors offered at A&M. Animal Science major? What does someone do with that?

I once had a neurologist at Mercy Center in Baltimore ask me what a wildlife biologist was. I told him, someone who knows what a neurologist is.

You do realize that the A&M in Texas A&M stands for the words agricultural and mechanical?

Texans had much better choices Kay Bailey Hutchison (GOP) would have been super. Bill White (Dem) and even Twix ( my daughter's dog) would have been an improvement but voters like someone they can relate to- someone as ignorant as they are. The bar is especially low in Texas.
What Ignorance do you refer to. Most if the Texans that I have met that are politically minded seam very informed and can provide a foundation for their opinion.

Time for an Aggie joke:

Two Aggies on a bench watch a dog licking his privates. First Aggie: "I wish I could do that." Second Aggie: "Go ahead. He don't bite."

College grades don't tell the whole story. I don't support him at all because of his politics; my opinion of him wouldn't change if he had been a straight A student.

I have to acknowledge that I was not terribly surprised. It takes real brains to be successful in animal science these days (or any other kind of farming or ranching), and I have not seen any evidence of that beyond a certain animal cunning serving his own self-interest (certainly not ours) in our governor. But a D in Principles of Economics? A C in History of the U.S.?

Now, granted, at that point in time he might have been more interested in ranching than in politics, and his poor grades in his chosen major, indicating that that would be a poor career choice, might have made him come up with something else where he could possibly be successful.
