Default Elevation between SA and Comfort

Does anyone know whether or not the elevation lowers as you approach Comfort? This doesn't seem to make sense because Comfort is in the Hill Country.

But driving back to SA from Comfort on I10 it always seems like I am going mostly uphill. It doesn't seem to level out until I get past Boerne or Leon Springs. Is this real or an illusion?

Without a topographical map it is hard to tell about the approaching roads. Comfort is listed as some 800 feet higher than SA. Many GPS devices will display altitude and tell you exactly.

It's an illusion. Comfort is only about 200 feet higher, but it is higher. I think it's just the immediate land and topagraphy that makes you think you are going uphill. It seems you are going uphill on the way to comfort from SA.

Hmm. Maybe I should ask what is the difference in elevation between Boerne and Comfort?
