Surprised nobody has asked this yet.. Why exactly is the OP going to Mexico to meet her boyfriend and he isn't even coming up to the border to meet her? Is this an internet thing? I just watched that 'To catch an identity thief' on MSNBC and I now see internet romances in a completely different light.. sorry if this has nothing to do with anything, but it seems sorta odd to me..

You've never even been to Mexico and you intend to drive to Queretaro? Not a wise move! You should insist that your boyfriend either MEET you at the Texas border and drive down with you or you should FLY down.
. . . and you should get a map and take a look as to just where this place is located. It's SOUTH of Mexico City for gosh sakes. I would not consider driving to there and I've been to Mexico more times than I can recall. Monterrey is the farthest south I've driven. It's not like driving in the U.S.A., especially with (certain) things going on now.
Reconsider.

I sure wouldnt go there with my newborn baby, thats for sure. Even in the daytime, its really sketchy. I was in Laredo with my wife about 2 years ago & we crossed the border on foot for about an hour.

As soon as they see you're white, be prepared to be hassled CONSTANTLY because they think you must be rich or something. And I dont mean just trying to sell you booze & blankets, I mean be prepared to turn down hardcore drugs & other weird offers left & right. And this was all on the main drag. After dark or deeper in is a totally different story.

Not trying to scare you, but just be aware. Im no stranger to walking in seedy neighborhoods, but this gave me a really uneasy feeling being there.

Default Vehicles into MExico

beware if youre bringing a rebuilt or salvage title in. even tho the car was late model and in perfect condition, we had gone thru all the offices only to be stopped by the last one who gave us a hard time about it. make sure you speak spanish because you will most likely be taking out some pesos to finish the transaction if you know what i mean. welcome to me_ico!

What part of Mexico are you going? If you´re only pass by Laredo you will not have any problems. But I prefeer to pass by Colombia, north-east of laredo, is more fast and easy and you dont enter to Nuevo Laredo City, youre in the highway instead.

Regards!

Well, we are going to Queretaro, Queretaro. Its the main city with in the city itself. Its about 3 hours North West of Mexico City. Im actually really excited to go, just not sure if ill have my passport by then. With the new baby and all, I dont seem to have time to go through the process of getting one. I have A LOT of hispanic friends, and they have told me not to worry about traveling through laredo. And you know what, I believe them. I dont really have that much to be scared about. Im with a Mexico native, and hes been back and forth a million times. I think that my babies grandmother on his side deserves a chance to see her grandson too. Not just my family can enjoy this little creature god has created. I hate to say, because of the comments that i might get, but I think that its just the "white in us" that has moderized us to think a certain way. People dont realize that that country is sufforing terribly and needs OUR HELP. But i guess that the "whites" are to stuck up to do anything about it themselves. (not speaking for the government ofcourse) Well, now look what ive done. Started a controversy. Lets just open our eyes and realize that maybe we are just as bad as everyone else in the world. Everyone puts their pats on one leg at a time, just like you.

If you apply for the passport in the near future, you should get it in plenty of time for the trip. Are you planning on getting one for Baby, too?

If you are driving across the border, you don't currently need a passport to come back. (You do need it if you decide to fly there instead.) You do at least need a driver's license and a birth certificate.

If you think you will be crossing the border more after this trip, you might as well apply for the passport now since it will be required next year anyway .

I have to say that this just sounds completely bad. I just received a call tonight that our workers are fearing for their lives working in Laredo at night. Please come up with a better option than crossing at Laredo.

Pay the fare and fly into mexico city if you must go there.
