Default Anyone from Gonzales, Seguin or Shiner?

I've got relatives all over that area, and was wondering if anyone else is familiar with the town of "Come and Take it!".

not so much with Gonzales though we stated at historial home bed and breakfast there several years ago when we went to the Thump in Luling--my husband lived in Luling most of his early life--I lived in Kingsbury--went to Seguin HS and TLC--now TLU in Seguin--he went to San Marcos/SWT--refuse to use that new-fangled name--that is yuppied up...

haven't been home in a while except to drive though to see relatives in Victoria or maybe my sister in Boerne--always try to get some barbeque at City Market--that beats all the others around in our opinon...

Well the town of "Come and Take It" is really Cost, Texas-where I was born and raised. Gonzales is about 10 miles from there. I went to school in Gonzales grades 1-12 while living in Cost. I know alot of people all over the area as well. Chased Shiner girls and drank their beer. (Shiner Bock is the best). Come and Take It celebration is the first weekend in October every year. It's a good time.

I went last year, very good brisket in the town square. I haven't been to Shiner in a few years, but I always pass through Seguin on the way to SA. Lovely town.

since Seguin is not on I-35 NAFTA highway it has missed most of the growth that San Marcos and New Braunfels has seen-- I know the people feel they have not had benefits of better jobs/tax base increasing and home price appreciation but Seguin is just so quiet compared to San Marcos or NB--even if there is a very good university there as well--
