For those who live in the northern part of the state, but have a craving for the southern Texas style of BBQ, check out Hard 8 in Stephenville. It's worth the short drive from the DFW area.

Other good places that I have found:

Danny D's (Hurst) thinking of their sauce has me drooling on the keyboard.

Double D's (Arlington) a very small spin-off of Danny D's...good mom & pop style BBQ

Cousin's (Fort Worth) Get the beef with the sauce on the side...you won't need it.

Angelo's (Fort Worth) A classic Fort Worth BBQ joint.

Harold's in Abilene is very good, Big O's in Valera is good, Easterling's in Haskell is good. I tried KD's in Midland a few months ago and it was pretty darn good. Mike Anderson's on Harry Hines in Dallas is about the best for Dallas for me. Branding Iron in Wichita Falls is one of my favorites.

There are a bunch of good ones in Texas, hard to have just one.

Another one for Harold's. I keep intending to go back there and have barbecue. I even swore I would go two weeks ago. There have been a number of mentions of Harold's in the last week in several forums (barbecue, home cooking, etc.) By dang, I am going there tomorrow night and eating! It is a shame to live so close to it and not go there when people are driving from all over the state to eat there!

The best BBQ I've ever eaten was in my grandparents backyard made by my grandpa. Now, the best I've ever bought.... hard to pick just one.

There is a little store in Banquete, TX (about 30 minutes west of Corpus) right off HWY 44, Pena's Corner Store. They had the best brisket sandwich I've ever tasted. And I've eaten lots of brisket!!!!

There's also some good barbecue in Robstown at Joe Cotten's. Tony Romo was spotted eating a Joe Cotten's a few months back.

Every BBQ place in Lockhart is right up there. It's a good thing I don't live there. My waistline was suffer because of it.

Also in Dallas, I forgot to mention Baker's Ribs, it is pretty good for the Dallas area. Iin Anson Texas the Peacock Restaurant features good BBQ.

I usually rate my favorites by their brisket, beans, ribs and sauce. I love BBQ beans but have yet to find my type in Texas. Unfortunately I have to go to Lousiana for my favorite beans at Podnuhs BBQ in Shreveport.

But I have not had as good of brisket and ribs as I have had in Texas.
