Default Is Fredericksburg a dog-friendly town?

Hi all. I am planning a weekend trip with my 2 very well-behaved dogs, and wondering if Fredericksburg would be a good place to go (I am in Austin).
Can anyone tell me if the shops there allow dogs in general? I have seen online that there are some pet-friendly restaurant patios, which is great. Just wondering if I'll be able to take the pups shopping on Main Street one afternoon. The other day I'll take them hiking at Enchanted Rock.

thanks!

I would say no. Was just on Main St. today and saw several doggies waiting outside for their owners while they were inside the shops.

Enchanted Rock however is great for dogs, don't forget to pack some water for pooch!

Agreed...and especially not this weekend! This coming weekend is traditionally the busiest of the year and it would be hard to navigate the sidewalks alone not to mention with 2 dogs as well. I normally avoid having to go through downtown on a normal weekend...you couldn't pay me to drive anywhere close to main street this weekend.

Even if you aren't going this weekend, I still don't think you will find very many shops that will allow your dogs inside.

Even more difficult will be finding a place to stay that allows dogs. Most of the B&Bs there do not.

It is a German dog friendly town. If your dog is French, it will be looked down upon

We have taken our Wiener dog to Fredericksburg many times and have found that there are several pet friendly motels. He walks up and down main street with us but most shops don't allow dogs inside. There are a couple of restaurants with outdoor seating that allow well behaved dogs. Luchenbach is also a great place to take your fur child! Only about a 20 min drive from town and you can spend all day! When we want to do something with out our pet we leave him in the room but some hotels don't allow unattended pets. We just put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and leave. If your dog is well behaved there won't be a problem. Hope this helps!
