Cheryjohns, this seems to clearly show Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties all in the lowest obesity category.
According to this map, Lubbock has less than 26.2% obesity, yet the article a cites 32% obesity rate and a "preponderance of steakhouses and barbecue joints." Lubbock actually doesn't have many of either of those for a city its size. I have a hard time believing a third of the population is obese, but the heart disease is a little more believable since Lubbock has one of the best cardiology hospitals in the nation.

I find this data more more believable. San Antonio is just fat.

I can tell you without opening the link that one of the cities has to be Dallas because the OP is out to trash the city as much as he possibly can. He's on a mission.

Thanks for finding that.

The low number for Fort Bend isn't surprising to me at all... just as an observer it seems there are many fewer overweight people around Sugar Land, Richmond, etc. and staying fit seems very popular here. Fort Bend is also one of the wealthier (by income) counties in the state... might be a correlation there.

Looking at the suburban counties on that list makes me wonder.

I cant help but think that concentration of Asians has something to do with it. Fort Bend, Collin, and Denton counties have the three highest Asian concentrations in Texas. Asians tend to eat foods that are more healthy and are much less overweight overall.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but I wonder if it has anything to do with it.
