Hey, every one. I just came to USA and was trying to find a place to play poker here. I live in arlington now. I don't quite understand and know about your gambling laws. Is gambling legal here? From what age? ANd what are the good places to play poker. If someone can help me I will really appreciate it.

Unhappy Not Legal

You'll have to go to Oklahoma or Louisiana. Shreveport/Bossier is about 200 miles, Oklahoma about 100 or so.

You can always organize your own game ...besides that i think eagle pass is the only place to gamble legally in texas...however that is a long way from arlington.

Flip's Patio Grill in Grapevine has a fun poker night on Mondays.

I've been told that as long as the house doesn't take a cut of the pots, or the game doesn't get too high-stakes, it's legal in Texas.

Yeah your best bet as what was said from a previous poster is to drive out to Oklahoma or to Lousiana if you don't want to travel too far. There is a casino about an hours drive north of Denton on I-35 called Windstar in Oklahoma. It's not a huge casino but they have a poker room there with different limits. Shreveport Louisiana is a 3 hour drive east from Dallas. I've been to both spots so if you have any more detailed questions feel free to ask. Far as bar poker goes, I'm sure there in Arlington there are places that have free roll tournaments. They cost nothing and depending on the location they might even pay out gift cards or even cash sometimes. Reason why the location can pay out is because they are not raking in any money. That would be a easy way to get your poker fix if you are looking to just have a fun time and get a little practice. Well hope this helps you out any.

We've got a couple Indian casinos within an hour or so drive from Dallas... one straight up 75 and the other straight up I-35, both on the Oklahoma side.
