Default san angelo

Can anyone tell me about race relations in San Angelo? We are a bi-racial family and want a place that is relatively dry, safe and sunny. Folks have suggested San Antonio but it seems too big. I wonder if San Angelo would be welcoming?

Thanks

San Angelo would be welcoming to you. There are many Hispanics in San Angelo and a good mix of both races so you won't have trouble fitting in there.

I was born in San Angelo, grew up just 100 miles away and went to college at Angelo State University. I really enjoyed living there and recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, dry climate. Very friendly town and a great college! I miss it.

To be honest, there is always another side. San Angelo gets its water from a local lake that is always low, so they have to add lots of chlorine and whatever else to make it drinkable. As a result, the tapwater is not the most palatable around. It is safe, but not tastey. Most citizens get a whole house water system or a RO undersink system for drinking water.

Default san angelo is not a place for you....

Mom of 5,

We are also a biracial family and living in San Angelo has been more than dissapointing. ON top of my children being called "colored" by more than two "friendly" citizens of San Angelo, we have been discriminated against in our own home. The schools do not know diversity. my kids are the only minorities in their classrooms. They are divided up that way.
We are only here for military reasons but are leaving soon.

If it is not too late, please save yourself the heartache and stay away from San Angelo.

SO, there are only two races in San Angelo??? That is exactly what i am talking about. San Angelo is a racist town (Unless you are white or HIspanic apparently). I guess you don't recognize the mere 5% of your black popluations and the 3% of the "other" race. It is a shame too because your economy could be doing better if you treated people better.

Say what? There isn't a segregated school in SA,with the exception of Blackshear, which the AA community fights to keep open when the school district would rather close it and disperse the kids to the other surrounding elementary schools. If your kids are the only minorities it is because no other AA's happen to live in that elementary school district. The three jr highs are all very diverse, with both country club areas going to the same jr high as the barrio does,so you're dead wrong at that level. The 2 high schools are both comprised of all races. The AA community only comprises about 5 % of the total pop,so they're not going to be numerous relative to the total enrollment anywhere.

San Angelo just happens to be a town more westerly and southerly than many AA's choose to live.We are more San Antonio than Dallas. Most AA's tend to like a more urban lifestyle, and SA is more a western, cowboy type town.Even in the biracial couples I know, all the AA men are cowboys.Even sold a horse to one.But I know a number of biracial couples who live here without even a hint of a problem.

What school are you claiming this is occuring at?
