My wife and I are in a bad situation where we live in Pa. We will be moving from here in the next year, and are considering Texas for several reasons. I would greatly appreciate your inpute, given our wants.
We would like something on about 10+ acres where I can enjoy my hobbies, Bench rest rifle and action pistol shooting without offending anyone. This is important to me. A three bedroom home with something that can serve as a shop would be Heavon for us. And any type of fishing would be a bonus. As I am disabled, I will need to be near a healthcare facility, but I ain't that gimpy yet!
I do not know if it is possible, but we would be able to afford something in the 200k$ range. Is this possible? We are currently looking at the Tyler area, as my family is from that area. I am William Henderson, the 3x great grandson of the first governor of Texas, James Pinckney Henderson, and I want to come back to my home.
We gratefully appreciate any advise.
God Bless,
Bill "Willy" Henderson

In general, East Texas properties tend to be higher in price than west Texas but out here on the south High Plains, $200,000 could buy the southern end of Hale County, including my place! But seriously, it's been too many years since I've lived in, or even studied, east Texas real estate but out here around Lubbock you could easily buy a small horse farm with a large house for that kind of money. Take a look at the Lubbock area which is renown for its health care facilities. Trout fishing in New Mexico is not far away.

BTW, I can walk out my front door and shoot a 30-06 and my neighbor wouldn't even hear it. There are not many areas left in eastern Texas where even a .22 shot on private property would not flush out a covey of "nannies" and result in a visit from the Sheriff.

Hmmm, I don't know....10 acres plus with a house (and I mean a nice house that doesn't need any or much work/updates) for $200K? Honestly, I think that is going to be hard to find. But, you never know. If you are looking for privacy, west TX probably would be the better choice. Good luck.
