Oh, someone mentioned the Texas Grill in Fort Worth! I love that place, too. Another good place in Dallas is Vern's, a little hole in the wall, but oh so good. They call it soul food but what is soul food but good ol' southern cooking.

Keep It Coming
Great discussion, troops! I'm proud of you. Lots of great things shared -- I may need to try a few of these places. Let's keep 'em coming. This is fun!

Another one that hubby and I like is Shady Oak BBQ on Copeland Rd. in Arlington. It's the service road to I-30 and it's near the TX Rangers Ballpark. Yummy Texas food, bbq and ribs!

There is also a Shady Oak BBQ in Plano on 75-Central. They have SWEET TEA
We tried a place the other day that we have passed a million times and it was pretty good: The Southern Recipe Cafe. They are in Plano on Campbell just east of Coit on the south side of the street. Looked like their omelets are a good bet as many people were ordering them for lunch and a different one was featured as the breakfast item of the day.

There seems to be a trend in the past few years to add back sweet tea as an option. Even alot of the fast food places are serving it now where they didn't used to. And that's a good thing!
Speaking of good things, Chicken Express in the DFW area sells Dr Pepper fountain drink with real sugar, not the high fructose corn syrup that is in virtually everything these days. Personally, I can tell the difference in taste although my hubby says he can't. At any rate, while real sugar isn't exactly a health product, it's at least not as bad as that high fructose crap, healthwise. You can get the real Dr Pepper in certain stores, too.

It's Threadgill's
I've always liked Threadgill's in Austin. It's just where I get my home cookin' and they do it the way I like it.

UPDATE -- Two Grannies Open Again

Now if I want to cheat at getting good home cooking, just between you and I, I still like the occasional Cracker Barrel and the Black-Eyed Pea!

BREAKING NEWS
I mentioned a restaurant called The Two Grannies. I was in Glen Rose today, and I saw that it is open again. I'm not sure why I saw a 'For Lease' sign a few months ago, but it looks like the owners worked out something. They are supposed to have some very good home cooking and they are popular with the locals, and I have been meaning to try it, but could not today due to other plans. Once I do, I'll get back to you on it.

I haven't been in Glen Rose in years. I didn't know that place was there. You mentioned the Black-Eyed Pea. I LOVE their chicken fried steak!

So far, the best place I've been to is Sweet Georgia Brown in Dallas.
