This is true not just west texas but south texas as well with the Eagle Ford. This is field work where cdl's are valuable. Engineering and geo science jobs are in Houston, DFW and MidlandOdessa and to a lesser degree in San Antonio. These require an engineering degree and most want 5 years petroleum industry experience as an engineer.

Tx has manufacturing jobs that pay great which are foreign to the rest of the USA. These pay better than tourist jobs...Americaa

Why not just get hired on with a crude hauler here and save the money and buy your own tractor/tanker? Crude haulers make about 4-7k a month depending on how many loads, percentages, and day or night shifts etc.

Anyhow, there is various types of jobs.

Water haulers make about 15.00/hr
Diesel haulers 12.00-15.00/hr (Class B bobtail tankers)
Acid haulers 18.00/hr
Frac equipment 15.00-20.00
Sand either 18.00/hr or pay by the loads

C&J in Robstown/ CC,Tx, Orion in Corpus Christi, Stallion Oilfield in Alice Tx, Halliburton, Trinidad I think is the other name just outside of CC. Those are all companies hiring almost anybody, at least in the area I live in.
