Having moved to Texas recently, my nose is getting nasty blood vessels from repeated sunburn. Since I cannot go into the office with my nose painted surfer white, what are practical options for protection? I don't wish to wear face masks that make me look like a terrorist either.

Some everyday protection face lotion with high SPF. I use Cetaphil every day. Even when it's not the most expensive brand, it absorbs well and no oily residues that could stain clothes. Aloe Vera gel helps too.

Neutrogena makes some good products too.

Buy Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 50 with Helioplex & More | drugstore.com

I've used this one, it doesn't leave you oily either.

My husband and I both have used moisturizer with sunscreen everyday for years. Growing up and living in TX most all of our lives, our skin has had lots of damage over the years and we are doing all we can now to stop any additional damage. My husband is probably more faithful about it than I am. He absolutely never leaves the house without sunscreen on his face.

Thank you. I went to Walmart last night and bought the Cetaphil as advised. I don't think I saw that particular Neutrogena product.

Where did you move from? Regardless, like others have said, smear the total sun-block on your face...but rub it in good...it will still be effective. Believe me, I know. I am a native Texan with light colored hair (strawberry blond) and skin...and sunburn easily.

Besides the sun screen, you could wear a hat or cap that shields your face. That will also protect your scalp from sun damage (yes, your scalp can get burned too.)

I can testify to that. I started wearing ball caps right away after getting sunburn on my scalp real bad from being out all day in 105 degree heat without my head covered. I learned real fast why so many people here wear hats and ball caps. lol

I second the hat. It really is great protection for the face. Just as an aside, baseball caps do not protect your ears or the back of your neck so if you have short hair, I would get a real sun hat. The wider the brim, the better. Sometimes you just have to throw fashion to the wind!!

Hope it helps! I only use SPF 15 because I don't go out if I can avoid it during summer LOL. My skin is not as dry and damaged as it was before Cetaphil, so I'm thinking of buying SPF 50 to protect my face a bit more.

I'm like TexasReb, I get sunburned really easy. I went to the zoo a few days ago and walk outside for 2 or 3 hours. I used SPF 80 but my shoulders and face were awfully red when we came back home. That's why I have Aloe Vera gel too.
