Thanks everyone for the advice!
Actually I have heard that the Texas heat will be very difficult because of the humidity. Will I be Ok with Central Air Conditioning? I was born in Tcson, and do remember the Arizona heat... how does Texas compare? Are there monsoons in Texas, like in Arizona?

Well when I was in Waco for my interview the town seemed ok. I have heard that the downtown is nice and that there are coffee shops and stuff to do... and that a lot of young professionals like myself are in the area....

My fiance is in Medical Billing and Coding... So hopefully she will find work in Waco...
It appears that we may live in the Woodway or Hewitt area... How is that area?

One concern I have had (I was warned y a former Baylor student).. was about the crime in Waco. I was told that its very bad...

Crime in Waco is pretty much only an issue in the poorer areas in the central city and east waco across the river. Basically the poor areas. Pretty much the same as any other city.

If you live in Hewitt or Woodway it won't be an issue. Woodway is an older upscale suburban city along the south edge of Lake Waco. Lots of beautiful older houses going up into the millions. Hewitt is more of a middle class area with lots of newer subdivisions. Go to realtor.com and search 76712 zip for Woodway and 76743 for Hewitt houses. There is also a lot of new upscale development along US-84 between Woodway and McGregor and several master planned communities out there. The largest is called Twin Rivers.

If you want a more suburban lifestyle then also check out the China Spring area which will be pretty convenient to L3 but less so to the hospitals and rest of Waco. So China Spring would be less ideal than the Woodway and Hewitt area if your wife is going to look for work but hasn't nailed down a job yet.

That being the case, I really would like everyones opinion on Waco....
How did Waco work out for you?
