I hear ya CleoT! I understand the anti-casino side too. I do think a few casino/resorts spaced out over the state would not be so bad. They should definatley re-open the two Indian casinos that were shut down a few years ago. The Kickapoo casino in Eagle Pass is still the only place in Texas where you can gamble.

I'm for casino gambling. I don't really care about gambling, but the fact is that Texans are going across the state borders to gamble in all of the adjoining states. The state is losing a lot of money. You can't protect injudicious people from themselves. They'll just blow their rent money in Oklahoma.

I wish we could vote on the subject, I would support it. It would bring in additional revenue... and some neat looking buildings. If it is done right it could be a great thing for the state.

Gambling in Texas? A state with a church on every corner?
Looks more like a state that needs to be led around by the nose rather than allowed to think freely.
Every other person who you meet in Vegas is a Texan, would be a crazy idea to keep Texas money in Texas.
Get Real........this is the bible belt, we'd much rather build huge, outrageous churches instead of casinos.
Besides, look how much cash these churches bring in to the state.

Texas has gambling addicts anyways. I think its better that spend their money in Texas then in Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Vegas!

This is as silly of an argument as the "dry" towns that don't want alcohol sold in it because it will produce a bunch of alcoholics and bring down morals, blah, blah, blah. First, let me say I'm not a gambler, can't stand it, and I live in a "dry" town. If people are going to be gamblers and alcoholics, they are gonna find a way to get to it. One of the main idiots in my town that is fighting against selling alcohol in town, OWNS A DANG LIQUOR STORE just outside of the city limits!!!! Ummmm....can you say hypocrite? We are 30 minutes from the casino's in Louisiana and you know what? I'd hazard to guess that there are more Texans in those casinos than there are Louisiana citizens. I doubt seriously that TX will ever legalize casinos....this is the bible belt. They'd much rather drive to another town or state to get their poison.
