If a strong third party came and split the Republican vote, then he might be ousted. Unfortunately that time, there was another independent splitting the Democratic vote!

Yes, that's what I mean. There is a (very paranoid) part of me that wonders if that isn't the plan all along. I'm independent. I would love to see him ousted, and I don't care if it's a Democrat or a Republican who does it, as long as their goal isn't simply staying in the governor's mansion (has he moved back in yet?) for as long as possible. Don't like him (Perry), don't trust him.

The Democrats had a great cross over candidate. But he was moderate and Hispanic.

The dirty truth in TX politics is that the base of the Democrat Party in TX is the older, rich, white voters, many rural or came from rural roots, who are deeply racist to Hispanics. They will vote for a black but not for a Mexican. The other dirty secret is that as a result of the above the Democrats were content to let the Hispanic counties schools stay poor up until the reform on the 1990s.

The base of the GOP in TX are the suburban voters and poor/middle class rural voters. Both of which are increasingly mixed racially and becoming more Libertarian in outlook. I do not see this base getting split. If anything, it will become more homogenous in outlook.

Um, that's not true at all. 85% of whites in Texas vote for the Republicans, and rural counties (minus the border counties) swing heavily towards the Republicans. The base of the Texas Democratic Party comes from urban counties like Dallas and Harris and the heavily Hispanic counties of El Paso and the RGV.

Give a ruthless creep enough power and the ability to win with such a small percentage of the vote and you have a dictator for life! He is increasing the allotted powers of the governor as he goes along!

I don't recall Hightower running against Perry, but I left Texas in 2004. As to the "Communist" part of your question -- well, how cute! The answer would be no, not unless you view all progressive Democrats as communists. If so, then you don't understand what communism entails.

All we can do is hope that there's somebody out there that can beat Perry! I can't stand that arrogant, crooked jackass...lol. I voted for Hutchinson when she ran against him. Maybe we need someone that is really well known and popular, someone outside of politics perhaps, like Nolan Ryan or Roger Staubach for example. It's time to think outside of the box folks, Perry has to go!
