Thought I had posted in this thread before, but I guess not. Here's a few from the last year or so-- mostly Central TX and a few Big Bend.

OK, this is just a really small part of Texas - but these dogs of mine ARE native Texan rescued strays! I just had to share this photo with my fellow Texans!

La Salle County Courthouse in Cotulla, TX N8
La Salle County is named for René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, a 17th-century French explorer. Polish immigrant Joseph Cotulla arrived in La Salle County in 1868 and eventually established a large ranching operation.
La Salle County, with Cotulla as its county seat, has been served by no less than four different courthouses over the last century. Burned twice, demolished once finally the county hired architect Henry T. Phelps to design a four-story brick edifice in the Art Deco/Moderne style, complete with jail on the top floor. Today, Cotulla visitors may still admire his architectural skills. The late 1920’s marks the introduction of the Art Deco/Moderne style for our Texas courthouses, an architectural design that accentuated clean lines and crisp, soaring verticals with distinct geometric patterning. The La Salle County Courthouse is a beauty of this type, particularly with its glazed bricks, gilded eagles and "LS" monograms. The gold-leaf spread eagle seen above each entrance is a national symbol, indicating freedom and strength.
The fact that his wife hailed from Cotulla inspired him to make this last courthouse of his career a particularly pretty one!
The La Salle County Courthouse was rededicated on Jan. 26, following a four-year restoration made possible with more than $3.5 million in grant funds from the Texas Historical Commission (THC) through its award-winning Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program.

Pearsall, TX

In the early 1890s the mercantile block in downtown Pearsall, established by the partnership of C. H. Beever and George Hindes, became one of the largest general merchandise operations between San Antonio and Laredo.
