I would just not to live in most of the others if it could be helped...

Temple,Lufkin/Nac over Tyler? San Angelo is very nice. But oh so isolated.

I understand San Marcos. Pretty, close to much, college town etc.

Abilene was left off the list too. From the ones listed, I would live in San Angelo again (lived there once), San Marcos, and Denton. I would also live in Waco. I would probably live in Tyler as well but I've never been there so I'd have to visit it first.

I would live in Midland, no problem. I've lived there twice before and really enjoyed it. Yes, it's flat and 1,000 miles from anywhere but Southwest (among others) flies in and out so if you need or want to go to Dallas, Houston, SA, wherever, you're just a short flight away. For a town of its size it has a lot to offer in the way of the arts. It has lovely neighborhoods and very nice people. No traffic and some pretty good restaurants.

I wouldn't consider Del Rio mid-sized by any stretch. It is definitely growing, but it's 150 miles from the nearest major city, which is a pretty big deal if you have any ongoing medical issues. I know of people who make that grueling drive multiple times a week for various treatments.

I spent two years in San Angelo for college, and my grandparents used to live there when I was younger. Even though the first thing I wanted to do was leave when I was there, I would gladly go back at this point. It's the perfect size, with enough of everything that anyone would need. It has its share of bad neighborhoods, but overall it would be a good place to raise a family. Looking back, the climate is also ideal for a native Texan like myself... winter is mild and the summer heat is semi-bearable since humidity is pretty low.
