Which cities have a good economy, primarily in the financial, banking, and accounting sector and have an affordable cost of living in Texas?

Any of the major Texas cities should suit you fine based on that info.

If youre looking at the financial sector, I would consider the Dallas/Fort Worth area over the others. Dallas (specifically) is the financial center of Texas.

DFW is probably your best bet, but I'm sure Houston or San Antonio would be fine also. Generally Houston is Oil and manufacturing. DFW is more high tech, but a good mix of other things. Texas Instruments, EDS and others. Austin has University of Texas but also a BIG high Tech center.

Cost of living is very similar in the major cities of Texas, and that means very affordable compared to much of the rest of the country. And as far as the economy in general, every place except the Mexico border is doing very well. Even west Texas. We've suffered through the drought, but the oil companies are punching new holes as fast as they can and from what I've read, west Texas is actually producing more oil than ever before. They're even putting in a new pipeline to the coastal refineries to handle the load.

So you don't think anywhere along an almost 2,000 mile border isn't doing well? We're doing quite well, here. Lots of new construction, new businesses, etc. You might be surprised! Let me google that for you
