If you are basing your criteria on the best schools, then somebody told you wrong as they left out schools in the Houston and Austin areas.

If your basing your criteria on schools, lets look at the top 10 in Texas and where they are. Im going to cite two sources and the second lists top 5:

1) University Park-Dallas (out of your price range)
2) Southlake-Fort Worth (out of your price range for what you want)
3) Highland Park-Dallas (out of your price range)
4) Allen-Dallas (within your price range, this one is worth a look)
5) Friendswood-Houston (on the edge of your price range)
6) Spicewood-Burnet (within your price range but zero diversity)
7) Coppell-Dallas (on the edge of your price range)
8) Richardson-Dallas (on the edge of your price range)
9) Frisco-Dallas (well within your price range, definately look here)
10) Mason-Mason (within your price range but zero diversity)

1) Highland Park-Dallas (out of your price range)
2) Southlake-Fort Worth (out of your price range for what you want)
3) Coppell-Dallas (on the edge of your price range)
4) Friendswood-Houston (on the edge of your price range)
5) Plano-Dallas (on the edge of your price range)

Best School Districts in Texas

Most of the best school districts in Texas are in the suburban cities around the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Based on these lists and your budget, I would look hard at Plano, Frisco, and Allen. All are very close to each other and great places to live.

Getting a good school District is very important to us. If we want to be in the Coppell ISD, what the options we have as far as cities or area. And what is the cost of apartments there?
How about Catholic school in Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Irving and Las Colinas?

Thank you very much.

You need to look at the individual schools, not just districts.

And if you're that concerned about schools, you might consider going private.

Don't discount Austin just because it's less diverse, that is changing rapidly.

Agreed on the first point. You can have good and bad schools in the same district, but you really cant go wrong with the Coppell or Plano or Friendswood or Allen school districts. No matter where you fall you are pretty much assured a good school district. If we were talking about the Carrollton-Farmers Branch or Lewisville school districts, I would agree in full.

And you are right about Austin, it is diversifying. But it is doing so at a slower rate than any other city in the Texaplex except San Antonio. Austin does not do a very good job of attracting African residents the way DFW and Houston do. Austin does have the most balanced growth of all the metro areas in Texas because unlike DFW, Houston, and San Antonio, its growth is not overwhelmingly coming from minority groups.

Thats something thats best answered by a realtor or apartment locator. Its too specific to really answer here.

Im not as familiar with Catholic schools in the area. Perhaps someone else can comment on those.

Hello friend.

My family and I moved here to Texas a few moths back from Alabama (Birmingham) and we chose the Round Rock area. We left lots of family behind to come here, but it was important for us to expose our kids to a more progressive city with more diversity and culture.

So far .....we LOVE it. the people here are very friendly, ginuinely friendly at that. In the past 4 mos we have made friends with some pretty great couples and there is ALWAYS something FREE to do with the kids. Schools are pretty nice too.

I have heard good things about Plano and Dallas too, so you are good either way I guess.

I have family in from Ghana (Accra) - visited there for a month a few years back and LOVED it. Texas summers are alot like West Africa!

take care!
