We are thinking about a vacation home in a few years (save up some $$ first!). We live in Houston (the NE side) and would like a lake house vacation home. We don't really boat, but my father in law does, and we like jet skiing, etc. I grew up in the hill country (north of San Antonio), and love it out there. Love Canyon Lake, and had a good time there growing up.

If you were to choose a lake for a vacation home - which one would you choose and why? 4 hours is about the max I would want to drive to get there. Canyon Lake is 3.5 hours from me, Lake Livingston is about 2 for reference.

poll coming...

None of the selections.....I wouldn't have a lakefront home in any case, but if I did.....

I'd choose Lake Amistad (Del Rio) because I spent a good part of my childhood in the area during the summers. I love that old rough country, and great Tex-Mex/Mexican food and other are nearby! Fishing is great, too, though I prefer rivers instead of lakes for that.
