Why is it so cheap?
Are there good area hospital/medical services?
Are there issues with mod edit: immigration (issues would be violence, trespassing, etc)
How's the weather?

Looking to pick up cheap acreage somewhere, and noticed this area.

Thanks

Brewster County, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's a whole lot of nothing in that part of Texas. The per capita income is extremely low, and 20% of the population lives below the federal poverty line. Other than the small towns of Alpine, Terlingua and Marathon, there isn't anything there.

The land there is cheap because it isn't worth very much. If all you want is dirt to walk around on, you can get some great deals out that way. If you want anything else (electricity, water, a fence), you may be looking in the wrong place. I mention a fence because often when you buy a piece of land you have to hire a surveyor to go out and find it for you. All you can tell by looking at it is that your lot is "somewhere out there" in an enormous open field. Be sure what you're buying and what's available there.

There's Marfa and Ft. Davis, too, but that's not adding much of anything good.
