Yes when I was in school we never could get into classrooms and areas where we didn't belong. And come to think of it? I've never heard of kids breaking into schools after hours creating mischief? Guns are a great idea to introduce there. Small town, white america is so wise. Come to think of it prison guards should all carry guns, because it's so unsafe inside prisons. What could go wrong? I think I'll write my Senator with that great idea!

And if a bad apple decides to take Mrs. Brown's .38 while she's turned around writing on the chalk board. Mr Smith can come from the next door English class and we'll just have a Moderator cut: see comment standoff, or he could lay down surpressing fire, while the kids flee.

Damn we Texans are so smart. Moderator cut: see comment

LOL Uhhhhh, padcrasher, since you have it figured out so well, what if the hypothetical "Mrs. Brown", in addition to her .38, also had a good brand of pepper spray on her person, and used it to make the assailent a crying, blubbering, wiping eyes punk, instead of the bad-a$$ h/she wanted to be? So what about both armed AND pepper-sprayed armed? One to be used in a non-lethal situation, and the other in the worst-case scenario?

Funny how gun-control people -- IMHO -- seem to take for granted school shootings and violence will increase in areas where teachers/administrators are allowed to actually protect themselves and their charges, but refuse to admit that more gun-control laws and/or gun-free zones (or whatever) will decrease it.

I swear to gawd...

Gun control advocates always seem to be desperately grasping with these hypothetical situations. What if this what if that. All straw man arguments.

Exactly right, Two4D. It can NEVER occur to them that their own policies are underwriting the problems they seek to "solve". Instead? It is always more and more of the same failure. And innocent people die because of it.

But really, hey? Give them a break. A goodly percentage of them generally live in a fantasy world and their Alice in Wonderland outlook is seriously threatened by facts. One of them being, that the best proven deterrent to preventing a criminal assault -- all the way from a simple street robbery to a mass-shooting -- is the consideration that the potential victim either might be armed, or is almost certain to be.

This isn't just my opinion. According to a study done some years back, among felons with violent crime reconds? The single biggest reason, when choosing their target for robbery, assault, etc, they chose NOT to pick certain person...was that that person might be armed.

Very true. In fact I just read in our local paper that a woman living alone had an ex-boyfriend break into her house at 2:00am and assault her. She managed to break away and grab her .380 and shoot her assailant. He made it out the front door and died on the yard. If she hadn't been able to arm herself it might have been HER death I'd be reading about.

I third that "Good for her" commentary!

*afterthought* Present this case (and similar scenario) to the Brady Bunch as just one (of many) of how a handgun saved a life?

Then they would probably say -- as they invariably do -- that the availability of the said handgun only "escalated" the situation. Or potentially would (under another circumstance, similar)

Whew...

Guns would only make for an even fight.

Need to issue the Teachers . . . . Hand Grenades.

Since you only have to count to four, it would even work for Kiddygarden.
