That's as big as it gets.
Here's a link with a more simplistic explanation and map.
NWS JetStream - Climate
It doesn't differentiate between semi-arid and true arid.

I lived in the so-called "Hill Country" and I have no idea why people keep saying it's got the "best" weather in Texas. Hardly. You get all of the misery (humidity, long long summers of it), and none of the good (because it's ROCKS and dry soil and you can't grow sh*t there like you can in East Texas and you also aren't comfy dry like in West Texas).

El Paso fits the criteria to the tee. Its Tuscon weather - 10-15 degrees due to being at 4000 ft elevation (95-102 no humidity in summer, mid, upper 50's in winter). It is about 4 hours from Tucson. As long as high paying jobs isnt in the criteria, this is the place. Housing is cheap, low to mid 100's for a decent house, new subdivisions in East El Paso in the 90's.

You not going to find the almost Zero humidity like Tucson but then many places do not have the stiffling heat of tuscon in the summer. You might like extreme west Texas if you like tuscon's low humidity and the heat.Arizona and neveda are just too druyand dusty with the wind to me personally.

I agree. The Hill Country is beautiful but, to be honest, it gets quite humid and buggy. Love to visit but love to return to my home in Abilene.
