Here's food for thought: "There's 253 other counties in Texas, and then there's Travis". I forget who said that -- someone who wasn't a fan, obviously.

About 33 degrees in this part of the state today.

Over on the Delaware forum we've been having a discussion on whether Delaware has more than one native accent type. Guess who started that thread? I like to analyze Delaware and Delawareans too.

BTW, in recent months I have been seeing an increasing number of motor vehicles up here in Delaware, on I-95 between Delaware and Philly, and in Philly itself, with Texas license tags. These are invariably big ol' SUVs (don't worry, we've plenty of home-grown SUV drivers around these parts too). Now the question is, why this sudden influx of Texas-registered vehicles (and presumably their occupants)? Are they economic migrants here for the jobs? Are they political refugees, fleeing the regime of Goodhair? Are Texans excessively fecund, and thus spilling out of their borders in search of lebensraum? Whither and why these peripatetic Texans?

Maybe they're on vacation. After all, our economy is doing well, so lots of Texans have disposable income to blow on vacations. In fact, I made a trip to the MidAtlantic region earlier this year. Maybe you saw me.

By the way, there are a lot of military bases in the region you're talking about. Since Texas produces the highest number of military personnel in the nation, and since military personnel often retain their home state's license plates (and drivers' licenses) it wouldn't surprise me if you see a lot of Texas license plates in that region, on vehicles belonging to military personnel and their families.
