Is anyone out there familiar with the Pedernales River?

Does the river run year round, or is it seasonal?

How large is the river?

Does it ever flood?

Is there good fishing in the Pedernales?

The Pedernales runs year round as far as I know, but dependent upon the rain, it can be quite low at times. I can't tell you about how large it is without knowing your idea of large, and also without knowing which part of the Pedernales. It's an absolutely beautiful river, check out the state park near Johnson City, absolutely incredible. I know that, particularly at the state park, it can flood during thunderstorms, but if you're talking about buying a home near it, you'll almost certainly be out of the flood plain. From what I know, the fishing is good at many points on the river. In short, the Pedernales runs through some beautiful parts of Texas. I would love to live near it.

Was there just a couple of weeks ago. The Pedernales is low just like all the rivers in Texas. We are in the 2nd year of drought. The river is not large but is beautiful. Pedernales Falls is really nice, but is not a waterfall as most would think of it but a series of low rock formations. Yes, it can flood and has many times but homes are not on the flood plain.

I have never been there but I hear it is beautiful. Keith Gattis and Charlie Robison both mention it in a song "Big City Blues". Wonderful song, artists so it must be a wonderful river.
