It makes me wonder what exactly SMU did to convince Bush to locate his library there. First of all SMU has had nothing to do with his presidency. So what SMU is Lauras “alma matter”, SHE ISNT PRESIDENT!!! He is! His ranch is closer to Waco than Dallas, He has had international meetings at Baylor, NOT SMU, He flies into TSTC not D/FW or Love. I recently moved back to Waco from Dallas, and let me tell you, the tactics SMU has done just to gain the land for this library, borders on illegal. And thats not including the public outcry for the OPPOSITION of it. SMU played dirty politics to get this library, which pretty much has been a norm for the Bush administration since his inauguration. Waco and Baylor are probably better off without Bush and his “dirty” library. I hope the SOB sells his ranch and leaves the area when he is finally out of office.

I agree. Bush is a Crook. And, he is not the sharpest tack in the box. Why would an institution of higher learning want its name associated with a man who was an average student--who admits that he doesn't read much--who murders the English language? Waco is better off without him.

I think the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico would be a perfect place for it.

JamesAbilene, I wondered the same thing, too. Then I heard on public radio an interview with this guy (don't remember who he was) and he said it doesn't matter how bad a president was in office, it's the prestige of having a presidential library and the fact that all kinds of people come to do research in it. Any institution that has one of these libraries has profited from it.

Put it on the old townsite of Indianola in Calhoun County. Bush can't even pronounce "presidential library."

He will probably call it "The Deciders Lie-berry."

It makes a lot more sense to have LBJ's in Austin...at least the old scoundrel and liberal reprobate was a native Texan, born in the same area.
The Bushes are not. They are east coast elitists, and I wish they had put their libraries somewhere in Maine instead of Texas.
Wishful thinking....yep.
