The article may imply that a very small minority of Latinos may do that, but the data shows that the 2/3 of Texas Latinos voted for the white guy.

Moving the capital back to Houston should win the Democrats almost all the votes in Greater Houston and finally right a great injustice attributable to Mirabeau Lamar. Angelina Eberly should have been prosecuted for treason and should never be considered a Texas hero, but a traitor.

You're wrong. Sam Houston tried several times to move the Capital to Houston (which bores his name suspiciously enough ) but Congress refused to allow it every single time Houston forced a vote on it. He obviously knew he was doing something unethical because he secretly sent people to Austin to forcibly remove the archives in the dead of night without Congress or the people knowing about it.

Angelina Eberly will always be considered a hero. Plus, she really didn't do anything treasonous anyways since all she did was alert Austin to the attempt.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or simply out of touch reality while griping about something that will never change.

Texas will never be a Blue state. Statistically speaking, the metropolitan areas of Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are majority Republican. The remaining areas are overwhelmingly conservative and Republican. The only exception is Austin. There are reasons to explain this. Texas is fiscally conservative and keeping taxes low so for fiscal reasons alone, they will be a red state.

Then you have to account for the large Evangelical presence. Texas has the largest number of Southern Baptists in the United States. Nearly 20% of Texans are members of the Southern Baptist Convention. Three of the largest Evangelical churches in the world are located in Texas. Finally, eastern Texas is very Southern in terms of culture. Texas was also a member of the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War and employed slavery so culturally, Texas i very conservative. Nonetheless, how is this a bad thing and why would you want Texas to be Blue? What makes Texas popular is many of its conservative elements namely its low taxes, and pro business stance. Why would you want to abandon that?

Texas won't be turning blue anytime in the near future. Even though the democrats are winning in urban areas, they are not winning by huge margins (except in Travis/Dallas counties). Also Obama actually did worse in 2012 than he did in 2008.He only won Harris county by 0.1%.

They are not winning when accounting for the entire metropolitan areas of those cities. In select counties, they may possess a slight edge. Even in Dallas county, they are not winning by huge margins and the remaining Dallas-FW metropolitan area is red.

Dallas county went 58/42 Obama/Romney. I dont know if that qualifies as a huge margin and perhaps not, but its still substantial.

For the record, DFW went 55/45 Romney/Obama and Greater Houston and San Antonio went 54/46 Romney/Obama. I wouldnt call those far right, but rather moderate with a right lean metro area wise.

Over the years, I predict the metro areas will lean slightly blue, but the state will remain red.

However sane people escaping the emerging Communist Oligarchy in California will redden things up a bit.
