I am moving to Victoria this summer and I am hoping to find information on safe neighborhooods. My job requires me to travel quite a bit so I would like to live somewhere where I won't have to worry about break-ins while I am gone. I would also like to live in a neighborhood that is somewhat close to downtown. I'm in my mid twenties and would like to be able to live close to an area that has things to do (exercise, events, nightlife, etc.)

From the research that I have done, it looks like the northern part of the city is safest but it looks like the downtown area has the most to offer for things to do. The historic districts also look nice. But this is all from research that has been done online. I haven't been to Victoria yet, but plan on visiting and doing more research before I move.

I was hoping that someone on here could get me pointed in the right direction so that I don't waste time when I visit to look at places to live. (I will also be renting, not buying a home.) Any information will be appreciated, thanks!

Victoria - Nightlife...... Not happening. Not sure what youre use to, but besides a a couple country bars, theres nothing. Downtown Victoria is not like youre typical "downtowns", all it is is historic buildings and banks

I lived in Victoria, single in my mid-30s, for almost 2 years. I wouldn't describe it as having much "nightlife" at all, and certainly not downtown. The most happening places were the bars at Chili's and Texas Roadhouse. I bought a house on Fernwood Circle in Fleetwood, off John Stockbauer. It was close to the mall area, which is the most prominent area of town. Of course, NOTHING in Victoria is far away, so just find somewhere you like and live there. Our neighborhood was great, with families and singles; felt very safe, even though I was a single female living alone.
