Hello,

My husband and I are looking to buy a house with a few acres outside of DFW area. We saw a few interesting properties in the rural parts of Collin County, Texas above the 380. Our Max budget is 200k. We want to have chickens and goats and maybe other animals later. Can anyone give me any idea of how the people are there? We would like to be part of a community. My husband is middle eastern and muslim, and I am christian and white. Will people have a problem with that? Is it safe or are there lots of drugs? Are there areas to avoid? Any advice would be welcome. Thank you kindly.

You would probably get more responses if you posted this in the Dallas forum. Collin County is considered part of that area.

I'd live in town. You will save on gas. Most cities will allow you to have chickens. Anything else is not worth raising due to the cost of feed and the droughts we have. I'd look around at some of the Hispanic markets to buy goat meat.

The rural areas are definitely not Muslim friendly. Not that anyone will be mean, but you will be shunned. There are Muslim communities in parts of Dallas.

And land prices are high in Collin. You wont find much.

Thank you TX 75007. We wanted the goats for milk as well. It makes excellent cheese. Do you have any idea if there drug problems out there? Thank you.
