Default Where is the rain in Texas?

It hasn't rained for the past 1-2 weeks in Texas and more in other places. The next week and a half looks dry.

I've heard that the world is going through a moderate La Nina now. Maybe that is why it has been so dry lately.

I've heard that too, that La Nina should bring dry warm weather to most of the southwest and Texas. Just what we don't need after a wet year. Come spring, we could have some wildfires too.

That's a really good question, considering what we had earlier this year. We could sure use some right now. Did you know that red flag warnings are back in some parts of Texas?

Exactly!

We went through 3 months of non-stop rain, now we are dry as a bone!
I wonder what is going to happen now.

That last huge cold front dried our skies out and will keep it that way for probably a long time taking in consideration we are already getting more and more dry from the change in jetstream due to La Nina.

I just got this article from Select Site | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News

Heavy rain earlier in the year is parking fears of Winter Fires

Texas fire officials are bracing for the likelihood of winter wildfires -- despite record-setting spring rains.

The downpours sprouted a thicker growth of trees, bushes and grass. Experts say those could quickly turn into fuel for wildfires.

The conditions could be similar to those in late 2005 and throughout 2006, when fires scorched 2.25 million acres statewide.

The toll included more 730 homes destroyed and 20 deaths -- including two firefighters.

Traci Weaver with the Texas Forest Service says people realize it can and does happen in Texas -- not just California or other places out west.

The spate of Texas fires that started nearly two years ago raced mainly through rural areas.

But the towns of Cross Plains, Carbon and Kokomo in West Texas and Ringgold in North Texas were hit hard when blazes destroyed many homes.

All the rain is headed up the East coast. It's called Hanna and Josephine. Maybe Ike will visit Texas and we can break the cycle. That what usually breaks a Texas dry spell.

We had a brush with a hurricane a few weeks ago in South Texas. Not much came of it. We haven't gotten much at all this year, so it still applies from last year. It's Texas, it bears repeating.
